| Our universe started with a rather large bang! Since then, it has been proceeding towards who knows what. From its inception and for every moment of its journey, our universe has been functioning, jot and tittle, within the realm of Absolute Truth. This strict adherence to Truth has produced a precision beyond mortal comprehension. All that has ever existed, is presently existing, and will exist in the future owes its stable existence to this incomprehensible precision. One could easily argue that the social milieu mankind is presently experiencing is anything but stable, and yet, even this instability is subject to Truth's stabilizing precision and is ample evidence that something larger than our ability to comprehend has Its hand on the rudder.
There are at least two kinds of Truth: Profound Truth and Common Truth. Common Truth can be illustrated with this sentence: I believe it is better to soar than to crawl on my belly. The truth this sentence represents is; the person who stated this believes it is better to soar than to crawl on his belly. That this person believes this opinion, is true. As to whether or not soaring is superior to crawling on ones belly is up for grabs. But that this person believes this is not up for grabs. This is a Common Truth. Profound Truths are entirely different. Two plus two equals four. Ones belief system, ones desire that it be different, has absolutely no effect on the reality of this concept. Empiricism establishes that two plus two equals four. No matter how deeply one desires this Truth to be other than what it is, two plus two equals four. In the past, in the present, and at all times in the future, two plus two has, is, and will always equal four. This is a Profound Truth. When one, when a whole society, finds itself in the situation where there is no Profound Truth by which to direct their actions, it is entirely reasonable to construct a Common Truth to provide structure to the collective experience. It is prudent, however, to remember that this Common Truth is relative to the concepts of belief, faith, and trust. Varied geographic, political and cultural forces will compromise the veracity of a Common Truth. Common Truths are subject to finite socially sensitive constraints. Common Truths are arbitrary. Common Truths fluctuate from person to person, from culture to culture, from continent to continent. Common Truths are essential for a society when there is an absence of pertinent Profound Truth. To function, societies need structure. For a society to function at all, a structure based on Common Truths is better than no structure at all. Common Truths will provide much needed social structure, but that social structure will not function without serious anomalies. As Common Truths are arbitrary and not necessarily compatible with Universal Realities, they can be expected to produce significant social dysfunction. One can easily imagine the impact on mathematics if in ignorance mankind adopted a Common Truth stating two plus two equals three. This Common Truth would provide some degree of predictability, but the overall effect would be mathematic dysfunction. As soon as it became known that two plus two equals four, it would be wise for mankind to relinquish its belief that two plus two equals three. Common Truths are prone to produce dysfunction. Without exception, Profound Truths produce functionality. It must be realized that when a Profound Truth and a Common Truth are in conflict, when knowledge contradicts belief, when reality confronts illusion, the only wise action is to put all in on the side of Profound Truth, knowledge and reality. Common Truth, belief, and illusion are always the short hand. Creating structure with Common Truths is reasonable only when there is no conflicting Profound Truth. Ignoring Profound Truth so as to sustain a social structure's Common Truth will inevitably destroy that society. Common Truths achieve a holding pattern, buy time, provide a necessary structure making it possible for essential Knowledge to accumulate which in turn makes it possible for elements within a society to discover the Profound Truths which are capable of supplanting pre-existing Common Truths. The universe possesses self-correcting systems. Progressive change is produced when a status quo produces dynamic pressure; when stability succumbs to the laws of thermodynamics, degenerates, decomposes and becomes unstable. This instability reaches a critical point and zip! Something happens! Through the eruption the sum total of universal stability is increased. Volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, thunder storms, earthquakes, super novas, ecosystem cycles of starvation, lemmings jumping into the sea; these are examples of progressive universal self-correction. As of the present, all botanical and zoological elements have matured; have successfully established themselves within this umbrella of progressive universal self-correction; all except Homo sapiens. The simple elements of pain and peace, functionality and dysfunction, are the means used by the universal system of self-correction to help mankind progress towards its maturity. Pain tells man what they are doing is dysfunctional and their behavior needs to change. Peace tells man they are functioning in a wholesome manner and continuing with the present behavior is advisable. As a species, mankind is still seeking this dynamic equilibrium; still on the road to maturation. Though Homo sapiens are a destructive species and cause for incredible instability within the world environment, the universal system of progressive self-correction is plodding on. According to the precepts of this system, mankind will either attain stable maturity, or it will be destroyed. Either way, the sum total of universal stability will be increased. |
